Frequently asked questions

How do we begin?
We usually have a discussion in great detail about what your needs are. Next, we write up an estimate on costs. Note this is an “estimate” of costs. Your final charges may be over or under. Each client is different and what suits one client in 1 hour, may take another client 2 hours to decide what works best for their project. Then after the estimate is agreed upon, a 50% deposit is required prior to any work commencing. The remaining balance is to be paid when the assignment is complete and prior to the release of any files.

How do we get started producing a logo?
First, we will need to know how and where you will be using the logo. Designing for someone that will have their logo ONLY on printed materials is different than having it ONLY a website. Next, we will need to know your budget for future marketing materials. Does it matter if the logo is 4-color or can you afford just one? The expenses involved with printing may determine how many colors your logo can be.

During the design process we consider crucial factors such as typography, color usage and shape association, which are often overlooked. Package includes 3-5 potential vector logo designs with 2 revisions; resulting in 1 final design, with color separated or B/W (if needed). The package includes original vector file, and multiple formats for printing and personal usage.

How much does a website cost?
The starting price for a basic 5 page website with text and photos is $625. An E-Commerce (store, digital download, ebook download, etc) sites start at $2,000. Each design is uniquely custom, just as each client has different needs and specifications, the price varies depending on the project. “One size fits all” does not apply in the design world. Feel free to fill out the "Estimate" form so we can crunch the numbers and will be better positioned to estimate your price.

What does it take to get a website rolling?
We will discuss your vision for your site… how many pages, images, and your content. What colors and style you like. What function will your website serve? Sales? Informational? Educational? Then, we develop a concept of the layout and design of the site. There may or may not be refinement at this point… it's up to you. Once this is finalized, the look is consistently carried through the rest of the site. What we will require from you is text (in a Notepad txt document), photos and links are placed to finish it out.

We don’t live in the same city. How will this work?
We live in such a wonderful age! With email and your phone, most business can be completed without having to meet in person. All (low-resolution) proofs for work will be emailed to you. Once you receive your proofs, you may view them and let us know what needs refining. Once completed, at your request, all high resolution final files are zipped and emailed to you as well.

Who retains the rights to my logo and work?
You do! Be sure to ask other companies that you may be speaking with about this. Many designers will retain rights long after you have paid them for the work. This can mean many things. It can be that they hold your original files and even getting a copy can be a headache. Or maybe each time you need a copy, it is an additional fee. Here, once you have paid us for the original design service, it’s yours to keep! No if’s, and’s or but’s about it! However, many clients don’t want to risk losing their originals, so if that’s the case, we can hold onto them until you need them. At that time, just shoot us an email and we’ll shoot them over.

Why don’t you do flash?
There are several reasons. Flash is often not recognized by all of the search engines. Just recently Google has gained the capabilities to read Flash files. Also, Flash is it accessible to text readers, nor visible on cell phones. Many computers cannot play Flash animations without downloading extra software from the Adobe website. Also, text contained within it is often not able to be picked up search engines.

How do we work payments?
All invoices are sent via PayPal email. PayPal accepts debit, credit, or bank account numbers and you don't have to have a PayPal account to pay. We require 50% down for all new clients prior to work commencing. Once the project is complete, the remaining balance must be paid prior to the release of any files or website going live.

Will you write the text for my (fill in the blank)?
We are often asked if we will write the text to fill the pages of your website, or a brochure that you will be putting in front of hundreds of people. We strongly feel that no one knows your business better than you, and therefore you should be the one generating the copy. However, we will edit or refine if you wish.
