Among their many initiatives and future plans, including construction of an orphanage and school with a kitchen, multi-purpose room and farmland, PFA has planned the “2010 Kenyan Mission” too. The 15-day mission from August 2-17, 2010 is seeking volunteers to visit Kenya on missions, to distribute goods and help with their various projects.

Volunteers can make the trip with the PFA team, which departs from USA to Nairobi, Kenya – NBO on August 1, 2010. Those interested can provide financial help to buy gifts for the orphans, to organize the Leadership Seminar, to sponsor a child, and for general needs of the mission trip too.

Michelle Crossley, co-founder of PFA said that “We want to take with us volunteers with a big heart, who want to make a difference to the orphans in Kenya. It’s wonderful to see so many people so enthusiastic about making a trip to spend time with these orphans, who live such an uncertain life. We want to encourage volunteers to help in whatever way they can.”

The mission will also provide volunteers a true taste of the Kenyan life and glimpses of the most scenic places too. The mission aims to cover Nairobi National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park, Thomson Falls, Ol, Pejeta Conservancy to see the African ‘BIG 5’, Lake Baringo national park and Lake Bogoria, and spend time with orphans at the various settlements, such as, Kiambu-Kinale, Goshen Academy, Wanyororo, and Nyahururu.

Help Studio1c Support Homeless Veterans

(Lake Havasu City, AZ – December 1, 2009): Studio1c, a premier website design company, today announced a partnership with the Homeless Veterans Base Camp, Inc., which houses veterans of all branches of military services, assists them in securing employment, and provides counseling on an as needed basis, both professional and peer group.

Studio1c has developed a webpage, which provides a simple means to donate for the cause of homeless veterans. Interested can use their Paypal account to donate for the cause, join the fund-raising community and help increase funds for the cause by inviting friends to donate for the cause too.

While the causes for homelessness among veterans are too many, the statistics are staggering.
The US Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that 131,000 veterans are homeless on any given night. Almost twice that many experience homelessness over the course of a year. It is also estimated that one out of every three homeless men who sleep in a doorway, alley or box in our cities and rural communities has put on a uniform and served this country.

Few more glaring statistics:
• 23% of homeless population are veterans
• 33% of male homeless population are veterans
• 47% Vietnam Era
• 17% post-Vietnam
• 15% pre-Vietnam
• 67% served three or more years
• 33% stationed in war zone
• 25% have used VA Homeless Services
• 85% completed high school/GED, compared to 56% of non-veterans
• 89% received Honorable Discharge
• 79% reside in central cities
• 16% reside in suburban areas
• 5% reside in rural areas
• 76% experience alcohol, drug, or mental health problems
• 46% white males compared to 34% non-veterans
• 46% age 45 or older compared to 20% non-veterans

Studio1c Creative Services Manager, Michelle Crossley said, "We want to help the courageous men and women who have fought for this country. We hope that you'll join us in this effort by contributing on the website, we have developed for this initiative, which can be found at http://bit.ly/2HDVxs and pay tribute to American vets by donating to this important cause."

The most common problems faced by veterans include, severe shortage of affordable housing, livable income and access to health care facilities. Apart from this, homeless veterans are also battling drug and alcohol abuse problems, and physical and mental illnesses. The most glaring problem, which has resulted in their present homeless condition, is the lack of adequate family and social support. Studio1c is keen to raise the maximum amount of funds through this project and hopes to help homeless veterans regain strength and dignity to return to their productive lives.

About The Homeless Veterans Base Camp, Inc.:
The Homeless Veterans Base Camp, Inc. was established in 1988 when a need to assist homeless veterans became apparent. To begin the Base Camp consisted solely of an old Salvation Army chapel converted into a barracks type facility, which housed eleven (11) veterans. Through continued work on the part of the founders and other interested individuals the Base Camp now has a new $1.5 million dormitory type facility completed in 1999. The new facility is designed to house 49 individuals. The Base Camp currently has 63 residents.
