With the increasing use of social media marketing for enhancing business opportunities and profitability, it is advisable to have a Facebook fan “page” or “group” page to promote your business. However, given the fact that all businesses can promote their service through their Facebook page, it becomes essential to create one that is unique as well as informative.
Creating a Facebook group or fan page can be easy, provided you know what to include in your business Facebook page. Following are some factors that you should definitely consider or include while creating your business Facebook fan or group page.
- It is important that you provide information about your company, such as the business name, website address, phone number, address, your working hours and services or products you provide. Ideally, your website address should be placed on the home page just below the top left logo and be sure the link works to encourage visits back to your website.
- Under the “Info” tab at the top, include details regarding the type of business you conduct, explaining your aims, goals as well as other items stated above. You may be repeating items, but that’s okay. It’s better for them to easily find the information than have to search and be frustrated.
- A logo or a picture depicting yourself or your company adds validity and an identity to your business Facebook group or fan page.
- Add a short description of your company somewhere in the left hand part of your business Facebook fan or group page (like above or below the website link). This will explain your business to the visitor, and also create interest in your website.
- Create a landing page with Static FBML will allow you to direct your fans to your landing page instead of your wall. This will ensure that new fans or members can learn more about your business instantly.
- Regular posting to your wall is the key to success. Postings can pertain to happenings in your company, promotions or offers that you want to share, discounts that you are planning to offer to customers, events that are being organized in your business or even simple updates about what is being planned for the future. Be sure to include links back to your specific website for visitors to read more, thereby ensuring maximum traffic to your website. Some great ideas I’ve seen is realtors or car dealerships taking photos of the buyer after the sale with their purchase and posting them to let customers know they are closing deals and that others trust and use them.
- Keep the communication open. Address all postings and comments (good and bad) from followers and fans. Let them know you are a real person behind the business and care about them as a customer or prospect.
- Blogging and attaching your RSS feeds of your blogs onto your Facebook fan or group page will help keep communication open between you and your followers/fans and increase traffic to your website and profitability in the long run.
- Adding other similar apps like YouTube, Flickr, Twitter link, etc will assist in showcasing your business or products in several different formats.
- Add polls to your Facebook fan or group page, which will allow visitors to feel they have a voice that is being heard.
